Jennifer Nelson is a dynamic reporter for the Times-Picayune. When Eileen Bastille, her mother, a patient at Heatherton Psychiatric Hospital, suddenly dies, she believes it is not of natural causes. Jennifer decides to go undercover at Heatherton Psychiatric Hospital as a patient and discover who murdered her mother. Dr. Carson, a psychiatrist, and her husband finally agrees under duress to support her 'harebrained idea' and use his influence and connections to get her admitted as a patient.

It doesn't take Jennifer long to pick up clues from some of the patients, and for things to start getting weird. It soon becomes apparent that someone wants Jennifer out of the way. Will she discover why her mother was murdered before she loses her own life?
